What is Bikram Yoga?

Bikram Yoga is the original hot yoga; a series of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises performed in sequence in a heated room. Classes last 90 minutes in a room heated to 105 degrees with forty percent humidity. The sequence of postures, along with the heat and studio standards, was developed by Bikram Choudhury, one of the world's foremost authorities on Hatha Yoga. It is intended to develop physical fitness, mental and emotional calm, and enduring health, as well as facilitate meditation. Additional benefits can include weight loss, improved sleep patterns, relief from addiction, moderation of appetite, and a stubbornly persistent sense of general well-being.
